The treatment journey

Visit 1: Smile Consult

During the smile consult, the dentist will assess your smile and discuss what you want to change. They will capture a digital scan of your teeth and take xrays to check their health. They can show you before and after pictures of similar cases so you can see what you will look like after treatment.

Visit 2: The Clinicheck

At this second visit, the dentist will have planned your case in a greater detail and will be able to share what the process will involve to makeover your smile. This ‘clinicheck’ is a 3D simulation of how your teeth will move during treatment and how they will look after. It will also help by telling you, and us, how many aligners you will need and how long treatment is likely to take.

Visit Three: The Fit

At this third visit, the dentist will give you your aligners and instructions on how to wear them, after which you can take them home and start treatment. From initial consultation to fitting the first aligner, it normally takes 3-4 weeks.

what can Invisalign_® fix?

crowded teeth

crowded teeth is a condition where you do not have enough room for your teeth to fit normally. This can cause plaque or tartar and other harmful bacteria to build up as it is harder for you to brush and floss well.

gaps between teeth

gaps between teeth is when there is extra space between two or more of your teeth. This can cause pockets between your teeth and gums and can cause food to get stuck making them tender and sore. This might also lead to gum disease.

open bite

an Open bite is when your upper and lower teeth don't touch when you close your mouth. An open bite can make it hard for you to chew or difficult to bite even the most common of food like apples.

underbite

an underbite is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. In many cases, this is actually a problem with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly.

overbite

an overbite is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. Most people have at least a little overbite. When your overbite is too large, your doctor might tell you you have a deep bite. This can cause problems, from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.

crossbite

a crossbite is when you close your mouth and yet some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth rather than on the outside. A crossbite can make your teeth wear down or chip. It can also make your gums start to recede or make little notches above your gum line. This kind of damage can lead to painful gum problems or even bone loss.

how does it work ?

invisalign_® works by shifting your teeth a bit at a time through a carefully planned sequence of movements over a period of time. you where each set of aligners for about 7 days, before moving on to the next set – each set moves your teeth a bit more. you work your way through the full set, each pair being numbered so you know the order in which they go. we give you the aligners in small batches and review you regularly to make sure it is all going to plan.

it is suitable for most patients. it is one of the most technologically advanced treatments in the market and is able to straighten even the more complex cases, and our dentists have experience with hundreds of cases between them to be able to provide you with the best support throughout the course of treatment. you have a chance at the clinicheck visit to see how your teeth will move in great detail and know how long it will take from start to finish.

the aligners are much more discreet, almost unnoticeable when worn compared to more traditional brace systems and it is much easier to clean your teeth as they can be removed. you can eat and drink anything you want with them, simply removing them for mealtimes. fixed brace systems do not offer you the same level of freedom.

the aligners apply gentle pressure to the teeth to encourage movement and this may lead to some minor discomfort, especially as you start each new aligner, but it is not painful.

we strongly advise that you wear the night-time retainers we provide you with for the rest of your life to prevent the teeth from slipping back into their original position. they are really comfortable to wear and prevent your teeth from slipping out of their new positions. your dentist can provide you with replacement retainers should the old ones wear down.

I saw Dr Boodoo, had a filling done today and he was just great. He always takes time to explain things and excellent at making recommendations for treatment explaining different choices. All the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. I’ve been with Burnett and associates as an NHS patient for quite a few years, and I also see the hygienist. always feel welcome from the minute I walk through the door and have always had a good experience every appointment we have attended. My son was very anxious about attending his first dental appointment but was instantly put at ease by the dental nurse Shelby who had him smiling the whole time ! I was really keen to leave a review for the wonderful service I received just recently at midsummer dental. I recently turned 80 and hadn’t seen a dentist for approx 10yrs as it’s never been a favourite place of mine! Izzy the receptionist made me feel at ease as soon as I arrived in the building. I cannot express how kind and friendly her presence was which really helped ease my nerves. I was treated by Dr Boodoo and again was made to instantly feel at ease. He was on time and had great patience alongside being really efficient with my care. Our family managed to sign up as NHS patients which was a big milestone for us as nowadays it seems pretty difficult to find a good and reliable dentist that offers NHS treatments.Our first encounters were also pleasant and the experience with the dentist is smooth so far.The prices are average: I did not notice them to be much lower or higher than the average.Convenient location and easy parking in Grafton centre, including plenty of bike racks nearby.Our family can recommend it.

Had my appointment today with Dr Shah and her assistant , I was very scared I might be in pain there is nothing worst than tooth pain , as soon as I arrived a lovely young lady welcomed me at the reception named Gabriele I was 20 minute early she quickly get me seated I thought I will be waiting like 20 minuets as soon as I arrived I got called in . I had 3 filling dr shah quickly help me get relaxed , got my anaesthetic to numb my mouth and started to work she dident complained how long it take and I can tell she had a hard job to do . Keep asking if I was okay always told me what she is doing once she has finished I got dressed she asked me if I have any question than to book my check up downstairs . I went down another lovely young lady welcomed me called Isabelle . Very friendly told me if I have any question just give them a call or email . I am (well was!) terrified of the dentist and have avoided going for years. 13 years to be exact. But that changed thanks to Dr Abigail Hunter. She’s really calming, patient and incredibly sweet. I had two very large and old fillings removed and replaced in one visit. I felt in control and completely included in every step. The injections were painless as they as the procedure and now the next day I’m still not experiencing any discomfort of any kind. I would like to review the work of a dentist, a dental nurse and a hygienist at this practice. Eman is an outstanding young dentist. She is very professional, knowledgeable, intelligent, thoughtful, kind and gentle, I am very happy to recommend her to anyone at all who is seeking a high quality and caring dentist who demonstrates empathy and thoughtfulness as well as a high level of skill. She sorted-out a chronic, difficult and painful dental problem I had last year which a previous dentist had said was not possible to deal with. She was also able to make a referral for me to a NHS specialist for a different and complex endontics issue. Liv, the dental nurse, is another excellent and kind professional at this practice. She is warm, communicative, friendly and very good at her job. I always hope that it will be Liv as the dental nurse when I visit as I feel like I am in safe and kind hands. Lastly, Kate, the hygienist is the only hygienist I would ever want myself or any of my family to visit for any type of cleaning or specialist polishing. She is highly knowledgeable and really outstandingly excellent at her job. She also always provides high quality follow-up advice and signposting in a kind and diplomatic way. Eman, Kate and Liv genuinely care about their patients and are a truly outstanding team of genuinely caring professionals. I feel very lucky to have found them for myself and for my loved ones.

I had a great checkup today. I had a big filling with a crack in it and thought I would need to have it replaced. But the dentist used very sophisticated x-ray imaging to show that the filling was still good underneath, and just needed the crack filled in. So my problem was all sorted there and then, with no need for anaesthetic or drilling. Very happy indeed. Thank you!
